READING

Please support David Mellen’s Big Reading Challenge Councillor David Mellen’s sponsored reading challenge is back and bigger than ever. Last year David took on the challenge to read to 2,018 children in one month. This year he aims to read to at least 5,000 children in 50 days and raise £5,000 to buy more books for Nottingham children. All funds will go to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library - an amazing scheme that delivers a free book every month to children from birth to five years old.

Your school can help. David will be reading stories from 28th January until 18th March. If your school could host him during this time, he would be delighted to visit you and read a story to your children.

If your school can support the challenge or if you would like more details please contact dolly9to5@nottinghamcity.gov.uk and we will call you back. You can also read more about the challenge on David’s fundraising page.

The Big Reading Challenge is part of a wider campaign by Nottingham City Council to improve reading and literacy to be launched later this month.
