Black History Month 1st – 31st October 2017 - Black History Month has been celebrated across the country every October since 1987. It’s a chance to celebrate and recognise the contribution that African and African-Caribbean people have made to Nottingham and the UK over the many hundreds of years they’ve been a part of the country’s social fabric.

A range of events and activities will be taking place across the city throughout October as part of Black History Month. Venues include: The New Art Exchange, Nottingham Contemporary, University of Nottingham, Nottingham Castle, Lakeside Arts, Nottingham Playhouse and the Theatre Royal/Royal Centre.

NQT Induction Programme Registration 2017: NQTs Induction Programme 2017-2018 - If you haven’t already registered your NQTs for this academic year, registration is now open. The registration form and other induction information can be found by visiting: http://bit.ly/2xLevhr and the form can be found under ‘Essential Information Documents’. The deadline for registrations is Friday 20th October 2017. Please remember that without QTS, NQTs are not eligible to complete the Induction programme. There are some exemptions to this rule, which can be found in the DfE guidance handbook ‘Annex B’: http://bit.ly/1vAnLxn. Virtual School Update: Pupil Premium Plus Funding Extension - If your school didn’t claim Pupil Premium Plus for a Nottingham City child in care on your roll between 12th September and 22nd September 2017, applications will re-open from Monday 9th October to enable you to do so. Please note the online application will close on Friday 20th October, so if you wish to claim the funding you must apply before then. HPV Vaccination - Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is aware that an email, questioning the safety of the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine has been circulated to some local authorities and secondary schools. Extensive reviews of HPV vaccine have concluded that the vaccine has an excellent safety record and does not cause a range of chronic illnesses. Child Sexual Exploitation Training - The offer for schools to have CSE training delivered is still available up to the summer holidays and continuing in the new term. This is a workshop style which can be done as part of an inset day or twilight session whenever is convenient for the school. It is suggested that secondary schools have a minimum of 2 hours and primary 1.5 hours if possible. CSE is an ongoing problem and school staff are key in picking up signs and indicators.
