Apprentices in Schools - From April 2017 the way apprenticeships are funded is
changing as part of a series of wider reforms to the apprenticeship system in
England. Employers with a pay bill of more than £3m will be required to pay an apprenticeship
levy.In England employers who pay the levy will be
able to access funding for apprenticeship training and assessment via a new
Digital Apprenticeship Service. Available funding can be used to meet the cost of
apprenticeship training and assessment against an approved apprenticeship

6th Annual East Midlands Primary Languages Conference - Earlier this year Ofsted chief Sir Michael Wilshaw commented that Primary Languages are marginalised. He went on to mention that it shouldn’t be an either/or situation and that “excellent teaching in subjects like foreign languages and science promotes good literacy and numeracy skills. This complements, rather than detracts from, the focus on English and mathematics." The packed programme for the 6th annual East Midlands Primary Languages Conference will inspire your teachers, helping them to provide engaging lessons which will not only boost your pupils’ literacy skills, but also instil in them an abiding interest and curiosity in the subject. This annual conference, which offers high profile national speakers as well as showcasing local talent, represents tremendous value for money and is always very well received by delegates. Feedback from last year’s event included this comment: “Thanks for such a fantastic day yesterday. There was such a superb variety of workshops and the quality was of the highest order. It’s always brilliant to come away from somewhere feeling motivated and inspired.” The conference takes place on January 18th at the Nottingham Conference Centre at Nottingham Trent University. Places are filling up so don’t miss out on this opportunity. The attached flyer gives full details of the keynote speaker, workshop sessions and timings and information on how to book your place.
