Tilly Sawford from Djanogly Strelley Academy received the Pride of Britain Award! - Nine-year-old Tilly was presented with the Child of Courage award by X Factor judges Simon Cowell, Nicole Scherzinger and Louis Walsh, and show host Dermot O'Leary last week.
She also managed to get an audition on the show for her band, Little Skips.
Speaking after collecting her Daily Mirror Pride of Britain Award on Monday evening, Tilly said: "Getting the award was awesome. I'm feeling good and I am excited. I like helping other children. Every star tells a story - a story that I survived".
A new campaign for Looking After Each Other - A new Looking After Each Other campaign has been launched this week to encourage people to do more to help others. It will run for eight weeks up until Christmas – and give people ideas and suggestions for how they can make a difference in Nottingham. The campaign is being run by Nottingham City Council with Nottingham City NHS Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) and Nottingham Community and Voluntary Service (NCVS). If we can encourage people to be more neighbourly and more community-focused, to be kinder and more thoughtful – to think about Looking After Each Other – then people will be able to help us to help others, especially those who are lonely or vulnerable. Our message is: ‘Help others feel good’. Primary Parliament has been involved in helping to develop ‘Kind Words’ that people can say to each other. Assembly offer for Schools - Nottingham City Care are offering a half day Child Sexual Exploitation update to any staff from secondary schools particularly if
you are having the theatre in education piece “LUVU2” by Pintsize Theatre. The training will cover the basics of CSE, how it happens, signs
and indicators and where to get support. This training will take place on Wednesday
16th Nov from 9:30am – 1pm. Currently there are 16 places available
but these will be open to other staff groups . We will hold 5
places for school staff until Friday 11th and then these will be

Nottingham in Bloom - Nottingham in Bloom is running a competition for pupils in Nottingham to design a logo for their ‘Help the Hedgehogs of Nottingham’ campaign. The campaign encourages local people to help prevent the decline of hedgehogs by taking some simple steps and the winning logo will be used on a new website and all associated publicity. The winning school will receive a hedgehog workshop for a class of pupils and learn how to build a hedgehog tunnel for the school grounds. Closing date for entries is Monday 19th December 2016. Inter-schools competition to celebrate the end of Black History Month - To celebrate the end of Black
History Month and the start of Black History365 Nottingham City Councilheld
an inter-schools competition to create a flag that symbolises at a glance Black
History. We think this is the first black
history flag competition anywhere in the world where the winning design will be
made and flown from a civic building (Council House and Nottingham Castle). There were two outstanding
designs, one from Walter Halls, the other from St Augustine’s. We would like
you to choose your favourite by visiting the Nottingham City Council website
