Nottingham Nursery and Training Centre

Nottingham Nursery School and Training Centre Awarded 'LOtC' Mark - Gold Award - Nottingham Nursery School has just been awarded awarded the prestigious ‘Learning Outside the Classroom’ Mark - Gold Award, in recognition of the outdoor and off-site opportunities which they offer their children (aged 2-4) and the work they do in terms of promoting learning outside of the classroom with other professionals. The school are super pleased about this as it offers them recognition of something which is an absolutely integral part of their provision and which research shows is vital to children's development, well-being and learning. Staff have also worked very hard to pull together all the relevant documentation for the inspector to look at.

They are now one of the only 20 schools in the UK to have this award and 1 of only 2 nursery schools http://www.lotc.org.uk/lotc-accreditations/lotc-mark/lotc-mark-accredited-schools/

LOtC Mark is intended to recognise existing exemplary provision, and to support schools in enabling all children to have access to meaningful LOtC experiences. Full details can be found here http://www.lotc.org.uk/lotc-accreditations/lotc-mark/

Urgent and important stories...!

Nottingham City Council’s SOLAR team is very proud to have helped celebrate a decade of school ice skating - The team helps support schools to access the programme offered by the National Ice Centre. The comprehensive transport and skating package is a great opportunity for schools to offer a sport that is not normally accessible within the curriculum. It was funded by Capital One from 2009 until 2014, and is now subsidised by the National Ice Centre. More than 23,000 pupils have taken part in the award-winning Schools Ice Skating Programme since it started, and more than 400 youngsters have secured Talent ID Scholarships to allow them to develop their skills further. The SOLAR team can help organise low-lost, local authority-approved transport, as well as providing advice and information about the programme. It also administers the booking and contracting process. More information here or call Andrew Smith, SOLAR Business Manager, on 0115 947 6206 (ext 238).
