Bulwell Teaching Award

A primary school teacher from Bulwell has been recognised for her outstanding work.

Claire Langham, who works at Cantrell Primary and Nursery School, in Bulwell, is the winner of the Silver Teaching Award in the national Pearson Teaching Awards 2016, dubbed the “Oscars for Teachers”.

Selected from thousands of nominations, Claire received her award on Thank A Teacher Day, 17 June 2016.

Sickle Cell and Education - July is Sickle Cell Awareness month, in which those who care about people affected by this terrible genetic blood disorder draw to the attention of those providing services, things that they can do to make life more bearable for affected families.  One example is, if schools/colleges do not have strong supportive frameworks on sickle cell disorder to reduce school absences, then studies have suggested that a pupil with SCD could miss weeks of schooling a year, most often in short absences of 2-3 days at a time.
