The past month has brought some fantastic opportunities to share the TAF message and celebrate success across the partnership.
A sincere thank you to the Education Subgroup for inviting us to present a TAF update at the Schools DSL Network meeting. We are especially grateful to Sally Milner-King and John Williams for sharing their inspiring experiences and providing a powerful case study demonstrating how TAF has positively supported children, families, and the school.
It’s been particularly encouraging to hear that, following the network session, several schools have since reached out to share how Sally and John’s experiences have inspired them to begin their own TAF journey. We look forward to giving them a shout out soon.
Thank you also to Susan Crighton and Charlotte Griffin for inviting us to join the Childminders Network and share information about TAF.
It was a fantastic opportunity to engage with childminders across the city. Their commitment was truly inspiring, taking the time to attend an evening session after a full working day to continue developing their knowledge and practice for the benefit of children in Nottingham is a real testament to their dedication.
This month, we will continue to provide information on services to support your families and TAFs, alongside practical tools to support you throughout your TAF journey.

We would like to give a warm welcome to our newest TAF Adopters!
- Stanstead Flying High Academy
- Sycamore Academy
It’s great to see an increase in TAFs across our schools and the difference this is making. This continued growth highlights effective partnership working and a shared focus on ensuring children and families receive the right support when they need it.
CGL (Change Grow Live) - The Place, delivers community-based substance use and Impacted by Substance services across Nottingham City, supporting young people, adults, and families to make positive changes and improve outcomes.
As one of our valued partners, they regularly contribute to our Lead Professional Training, helping to raise awareness of the support available and how practitioners can link young people into the right services.
We’re also delighted that CGL have booked onto our upcoming Lead Professional Training, it's fantastic to have them on board and part of our growing TAF partnership.
We asked Habib Akhtar (Services Manager) from CGL how his service can embed the TAF process and support the wider partnership:
"Within the context of Team Around the Family (TAF), we see our role as an active partner in early intervention, contributing to multi-agency planning to support children and families with complex or emerging needs.
Our staff are keen to attend TAF meetings where appropriate, offering specialist insight and coordinated support, and are also engaging with Lead Professional training to strengthen our contribution to joined-up, family-centred practice."

Our team has created a helpful resource to highlight what makes a good TAF. It brings together key principles such as putting children and families first, building on strengths, and creating clear, simple plans with shared responsibility.
This guide is designed to support practitioners to work collaboratively, keep families at the centre of decision-making, and ensure every TAF feels supportive, organised, and focused on positive outcomes.

School holidays can be exciting, but they can also be challenging when trying to keep children entertained, maintain routines, and balance family life. Our new Weekly Holiday Planner has been designed to help families plan one week at a time, making the holidays feel more manageable, enjoyable, and organised.
The planner provides space to map out activities for each day of the week, helping children and parents look forward to fun opportunities together. It also includes useful tips for staying safe and well, a section for important contacts, ideas for local activities and services, and simple wellbeing tools to help children recognise and manage their feelings. Families can use the planner to create routines, set goals, celebrate achievements, and identify where to find support if needed.
At the bottom of the planner, you'll find QR codes linking to local holiday activities and information about financial support and benefits.

Since last September, our focus has been on developing Lead Professionals across the partnership. However, we recognise that a wider understanding of the TAF approach is essential for everyone within a setting, provision, or agency.
To support this, we are pleased to be launching a series of “Lunch and Learn” sessions, designed to provide a simple and accessible introduction to the TAF approach for all practitioners.
