Armed Forces Day

A Message from City Council Leader, Cllr David Mellen:

Cllr David Mellen, leader of Nottingham City Council

This year to mark Armed Forces Day we’ll be lighting up the Council House red, white and blue and the Forces flag has been flying from the building all week. Armed Forces Day takes place tomorrow and is an opportunity for us all to show our gratitude to the brave service men and women who serve and protect our country. The day will be celebrated differently this year due to current pandemic but it is important that we still mark the day, especially in light of the role vital they have played in the coronavirus response.

Nottingham has a proud history of support for the Armed Forces and the men and women from the city who have served their country. Indeed, we were one of the first councils to sign the Armed Forces Covenant in 2013. Members of the Armed Forces make huge personal sacrifices to defend our country, and their efforts are deserving of our support and recognition.
