Exciting new line-up of free and fun outdoor activities for the holidays
Nottingham’s summer holiday ParkLives programme has launched, including unusual family-friendly sessions such as pond dipping at Vernon Park, orienteering at the Forest Recreation Ground and music & rhymes in Clifton Central park.
Run by Coca-Cola Great Britain in partnership with Nottingham City Council, ParkLives is ideal for busy parents during the school holidays and offers a wide range of ways to entertain the family for free. The summer timetable features activities that have already proved popular with Nottingham families, such as family tennis in Vernon and Southglade Parks, family rounders in Clifton Central and Wollaton Parks and Get into Golf sessions at Bulwell Hall, Wollaton or Woodthorpe Grange Parks.
Families with young children will be able to take part in buggy fitness at Bulwell bogs while, for children aged seven and over, there is canoe rafting or a high ropes session (pictured) at Colwick Country Park.
Teenagers can use up their excess energy playing basketball at Clifton Playing Fields, Melbourne Park or King Edward Park, whereas the older generation might enjoy a gentle health walk around Victoria Embankment, Wollaton Park or Woodthorpe Grange Park.
Daily activities are available in 20 parks across the city. Sessions are between one and two hours long and are led by supportive and friendly trained instructors. You can view the full timetable and save a space online at www.parklives.com.
