New toolkit for wellbeing conversations

Be well logo

As we adapt to new social distancing measures in response to the COVID-19 outbreak, we are also facing a variety of wellbeing challenges.

Research shows our relationships with our line managers is the top determinant of workplace wellbeing, so it’s more important than ever for line managers to have wellbeing conversations with their team members. So we’re giving you a tool to help – the Wellbeing Action Plan.

The plan will help you have an action focused conversation. It provides guidance on what a good wellbeing conversation looks like, gives a framework for the conversation and guides you towards action points for line managers and team members.

Permanent Secretary Richard Heaton has also written with his thoughts on how we can work together during this difficult period.

Actions:

  • Set aside time for a wellbeing conversation with those you line manage using the toolkit, further guidance is on the intranet.
  • Flag the guidance with line managers in your team and encourage them to set aside time to have a wellbeing conversation with individuals who they line manage.
  • Share Richard's update with your teams.

Recording key worker status and business continuity information on SOP

SSCL

Staff are being asked to record key worker status/business continuity information on SOP. There are three simple ‘yes’ or ‘no’ or ‘not applicable’ answers. HR are asking everyone to do this so the government can monitor the impact of the epidemic on our workforce. This will also assist with monitoring and planning. The data is being collected and shared in line with the MoJ Data Privacy Notice.

 Action:

  • Encourage your teams to fill in this data using the instructions available on myHub.
