Visual generative AI is more than just a technological novelty—it poses a serious threat to truth, misinformation, and public trust. In this month's blog, Dr Adi Kuntsman, a researcher at Manchester Metropolitan University, explores the dangers of AI-generated deepfakes, their impact on society, and the urgent need for researchers and policymakers to develop visual AI literacy to counter the spread of "synthetic" media. |

We are pleased to welcome Professor Michelle McManus, pictured above, at the recent launch for the Institute of Children's Futures, as our latest Chancellor’s Fellow.
Michelle’s research focuses on child exploitation, domestic abuse, and serious youth violence. She has extensive experience working across various governmental agencies and a proven track record in shaping policy related to policing and law enforcement. As a Chancellor’s Fellow, Michelle will collaborate with the College of Policing to support their Vulnerability Knowledge and Practice Programme (VKPP). This programme works alongside the National Police Chiefs' Council's (NPCC) leads for Violence and Public Protection and Violence Against Women and Girls portfolios to enhance policing responses, reduce threats and harm, and improve outcomes for victims.
We are thrilled to award Professor Michelle McManus the Chancellor’s Fellowship, and we look forward to following her achievements and celebrating her successes throughout her fellowship.
