The Highways team have been asked to look at what can be done to improve road safety along Tickford Street, Newport Pagnell. Vehicles parking on the footway, in the bus lay-bys and on verges are causing problems and are blocking visibility for drivers and pedestrians. There’s also issues with speeding vehicles. All these points have been raised by the ward councillors, Newport Pagnell Town Council and in petitions from residents to the Council.
The Highways team have put together some proposals that will tackle these problems and have allocated a small fund to cover the costs. The statutory public consultation period will run from 28 January to 18 February 2021.
The plans can be viewed online at www.milton-keynes.gov.uk/consultations
The proposals include:
- Double yellow lines along sections of Tickford Street, Severn Drive and Chartwell Road to prevent obstructive parking on the road and verge.
- Current on street parking will be formalised on Tickford Street
- Install some footway bollards onto Salmons Yard/Tickford Street prevent parking on the footway and improve visibility
- Enforceable disabled bay parking on Chartwell Road
- Install ‘low level’ post and rail fence prevent parking the grassed verge by Severn Drive/Chartwell Road and Ivy Close.
- Provide ‘Bus Cage’ road markings at the two bus stop locations along Tickford Street.
