At 1pm on Saturday, 31 August 2019 the doors to Newport Pagnell Library closed and library staff sprang into action. By the end of the first day the library was unrecognisable and even after moving 8206 books, colleagues were still smiling.

Newport Pagnell Library Refurbishment

Using S106 funding from local building developments, this popular community library (which is celebrating its 50th birthday this year) is having a complete makeover with the installation of new furniture, lighting and flooring to match the new layout and decoration.

Newport Pagnell Library Refurbishment

Milton Keynes Libraries has worked closely with builders and library furniture companies to plan and implement the refurbishment. Residents and library customers can look forward to an exciting new library incorporating nearly 200 metres of new shelving. A larger children’s themed space has been created and a new Story and Rhymetime session on Friday mornings will be introduced.

Modernisation of the building has allowed for the installation of new Libraries Xtra technology that will increase the opening hours of the library. Using automated systems, registered customers will be able to use their library card to access the library during extended unstaffed opening hours.

The newly refurbished library is set to open at the end of the year.
