Creating our Future Workforce

Creating our future workforce

Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) and Worcestershire County Council have launched a new campaign for ‘Creating our Future Workforce’.

The campaign aims to tackle the county’s skills gap and support businesses to get involved with developing Worcestershire’s skilled workforce of the future, by working together with educational establishments.

Businesses of all sizes in Worcestershire can get involved with ‘Creating our Future Workforce’ through a variety of pathways. Organisations can help by attending assembly talks to schools, supporting young people with mock interviews and CV workshops, and offering a young person a work experience or internship opportunity.

To get involved with the campaign, email the team at

Primary School STEM Challenge - Broadheath School

30 of the county’s primary schools are currently taking part in the ‘Worcestershire Primary STEM challenge’, with more schools being encouraged to get involved. On Wednesday 17 October, the STEM challenge visited Broadheath Primary School, to help create a train station of the future for Worcestershire. With a box full of ‘K’NEX’ building toys available to each group, the excited pupils were given the opportunity to bring their creative, ambitious and whacky ideas to life. The sessions are being run by STEMworks and the group will continue to visit primary schools throughout the Autumn and Spring terms, with the opportunity for more schools to sign up to the programme. A finalist team will be selected from each participating school in Worcestershire, ahead of a regional finals taking place in March 2019.

Natural Networks Funding

Natural Networks

Worcestershire County Council and Worcestershire Wildlife Trust are working as a partnership to deliver this exciting new opportunity to landowners, organisations and communities over the next three years.

Natural Networks can offer support to projects that will directly enhance biodiversity for example, creating wildflower meadows, reed beds, or new ponds. The grants are aimed at land that has previously been unable to receive environment grant schemes so sites cannot be eligible for, or already receiving, Countryside Stewardship payments. Sites need to have free and ongoing public access.

Grants are available between £2,000 up to £200,000 (up to 45% of the total projects cost).
