We have been allocated £1.8 million from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) to provide investment between 2022 – 2025.

Medway Council’s UKSPF fund is an open application process, where applicants can apply for funding by completing an application form, which opens for applications on Wednesday, 1 May.

Year 3 will be our biggest year, with significant funding available to charities, voluntary sector organisations, private sector organisation and other eligible groups

This year’s funding pot is split into three areas:

  • Feasibility Fund, to help get projects, events or programmes off the ground
  • Pride in Place Fund, to help you run projects, events or programmes
  • People and Skills Fund, providing grants to support training opportunities

Through the UKSPF, we are focusing on three key investment priorities, working with the community to deliver projects that make improvements across the region for the following key investment priorities:

  • Communities and Place
  • Supporting Local Business
  • People and Skills

About this year's three funding pots

Feasibility Fund:

The funding is for feasibility studies to support initial concept and business plan development to help get project ideas off the ground.

This fund can help to unlock projects capable of securing further public and private investment in the longer-term.

The Feasibility Fund aims to support the development of impactful projects and concepts that could catalyse longer- term change, focused on delivering outcomes across the key investment priorities of Communities and Place, and Supporting Local Business.

Pride in Place Fund:

Applications should focus on promoting a rich cultural experience for residents and visitors to Medway and support the social enterprise sector.

We welcome applications from organisations looking to fund a range of projects which align with the UKSPF key investment priorities of Communities and Place and Supporting Local Business. This includes:

  • Supporting local community infrastructure projects
  • Supporting and developing campaigns to attract visitors and to help people explore Medway
  • Building the capacity and capabilities of local community groups
  • Supporting business transformation, for example, decarbonisation.

People and Skills Fund:

The People and Skills fund is open to applicants who are seeking to address specific themes including: Green skills, Not in Education Employment or Training young people (NEETS), Care leavers, Wider skills shortage, Long-term unemployment.

The aims of the fund are to:

  • Engage people in life skills training
  • Engage people into education
  • Engage people in job searching activities
  • Support people into employment

The themes are deliberately broad as we want to encourage diverse and innovative applications spread across Medway.

Who can apply this year?

All legally constituted, charities, voluntary organisations, private sector companies, higher and further education institutions, public sector organisations, and council services are eligible to apply.

Application forms will be available to download from Wednesday, 1 May via our webpage
