COVID testing update
Our targeted asymptomatic testing programme (for people without COVID-19 symptoms) will have six sites operating across the city from next week with help from the Army.
A new testing site is opening next Wednesday at the Rates Hall in the Town Hall Extension in the city centre.
The testing programme currently focuses on people who are in frontline roles where they may have more unavoidable contact with others such as care homes, health and social care and school staff. Further details on how mass testing will be rolled out to the business community will follow.
The testing programme is running until March. In the first 2 weeks from Jan 12, 1,421 people were tested and 8 were positive.
You will be notified of how to get tested if you are in one of the groups being offered testing, so please do not get in touch to try and book a test at this time. More information on mass testing.
Children’s Mental Health Week 1-7 February
From 1-7 February 2021 schools, youth groups, organisations and individuals across the UK will take part in Children’s Mental Health Week. This year’s theme is Express Yourself.
Expressing yourself is about finding ways to share feelings, thoughts, or ideas, through creativity. This could be through art, music, writing and poetry, dance and drama, photography and film, and doing activities that make you feel good.
Place2Be has created activities and resources to help children (and adults) to explore the different ways that they can share their thoughts, feelings and ideas. There are lots of resources on the Children’s Mental Health Week website that you can use with your child at home, including activity ideas, tips for parents and carers.
