We have been working closely with a number of local authorities and other organisations to produce an advice note on focused and proportionate local plan evidence. This note sets out advice and information that should be considered when collating evidence to support a local plan with good practice examples from authorities.
It is designed for LPAs to use themselves but we can work with you to use it as a “critical friend”.
We are delivering two events in London on 24 March and 30 March for authorities that are focusing considering doing an APS.

With the Government publishing the second set of Housing Delivery Test (HDT) results this month we are delivering short series of events that will look at lessons learnt from the first round of HDT Action Plans highlighting best practice as well as how to reduce the time and work involved in preparing an Action Plan.
We are tailoring the events for different requirements so pick the event most relevant to you:
- Events for councils in "presumption" or likely to be in "presumption" when the next round of results are published in November 2020, to be held in London on 3 March and Birmingham on 10 March.
- An event for councils who are new to the HDT and have not needed to make an Action Plan before, to be held in London on 11 March.
- An event for councils who have recently published an Action Plan and need to review and refine their approach, to be held in London on 12 March.
This month PINS have produced a new procedural guidance for Spatial Development Strategies. It gives guidance on all aspects of the examination of Spatial Development Strategies.
We are pleased to add another councillor training module to our series, this one focusing on the Strategic Planning process.
This presentation is aimed at being used to advise Members on the Strategic Planning process, why they might do it and what it might involve.
Are you involved in your council's approach to using CIL and Section 106 to deliver infrastructure and feel that you could help enable learning, development and improvement in other authorities? Perhaps you work in setting the policy context for the use of these tools, take part in negotiations or enable the effective spend of contributions to deliver infrastructure needed to support development. Or maybe you are involved in the critical function of monitoring and reporting on the demand and receipt of developer contributions.
If this sounds like you then please contact us at pas@local.gov.uk as we would be delighted to give you more information on the benefits of becoming an officer peer in your field of work.
