STP guidance
The
NHS has issued guidance
for both STPs, which footprints are
required to resubmit on 21 October, and for NHS bodies on developing two-year
operational plans to support STP ambitions. It has also issued guidance on consulting
and engaging communities. The Local Government Association (LGA) has compiled
FAQs on the most common themes concerning STPs. It has also, with partners,
produced a briefing explaining STPs and how they should best develop.
STPs: from planning to implementation
These King's Fund events, taking place in London on 17 November and in Leeds on 1 December, will be a good opportunity to hear from a number
of STP footprint area leads on how they’re engaging with local government
partners, what funding sources are being investigated, how prevention and
public health are being considered in the plans, and what accountability and
governance structures are being considered. LGA members are entitled to a discounted rate of £120.

NHS new care models programme care model frameworks
The NHS new care models programme has published two more
care model frameworks: Integrated primary and acute care systems (PACS) and Enhanced health in care homes. These describe the features of each model, and were
developed with the input of nine PACS vanguards and six care home vanguards.
These two frameworks complete the one for multispecialty community provider framework published in July 2016.
Health in All Policies
The LGA has published Health in All Policies: a manual for local government, an approach that takes into account the health implications of the decisions we make; targets
the key social determinants of health; looks for synergies between health and
the work we do with partners; and tries to avoid causing harm with the aim of
improving the health of the population and reducing inequity. This holistic
approach is important for HWBs, which play a crucial role in building
constructive relationships between departments, the NHS, local government and
partners, including the voluntary sector, communities and other bodies.

success, overcoming barriers to success and equipping participants with the

Workshop to explore methods in public health priority-setting
A team of researchers led by
Durham University has been working with several English local authorities (LAs) to
understand what support tools might help decision-making in the area of
prioritising investment and disinvestment in public health. On 17 January 2017, a workshop will present the key findings
from the completed research and explore methods for supporting LAs in priority-setting to improve population health and wellbeing. The
focus will be on identifying the enablers and barriers to using such methods in
practice and what the future holds. Book your place

PHE Health Profiles
The Health Profiles have been produced annually since 2006, providing a snapshot overview of health for each local authority in England. The aim of the Health Profiles has been to improve the availability and accessibility of health and health related information whilst helping local government and health services make plans to improve local people's health and reduce health inequalities.
The King's Fund HWB directory

which have occurred in the NHS after 1 April 2013. Please email hwb@kingsfund.org.uk to submit further or updated information on any of

Healthy Homes
research project
Following
previous regeneration work Milton Keynes Council residents reported health, financial and other benefits. As a result the public health
and regeneration teams decided
to commission research to capture the health and wellbeing impact of
refurbishment more systematically. The
researchers surveyed households before the refurbishment works of phase
two, and again after they had been completed and experienced by residents for
some months. The resulting ‘Healthy Homes' research project is framed as a
pilot project, establishing a possible blueprint for future evaluation research
on housing
regeneration. Read more case studies on the innovative councils database.
