Refurbishment of the iconic Will Thorne Pavilion, due to take place in 2024, will create an indoor café, event space and public toilets providing a wide-ranging offer for local residents in the revitalised building in the beautiful Beckton Park setting.

 Your opinion matters – renewal of the Cumulative Impact Policy
The Council is consulting on the future of the Cumulative Impact Policy, whereby it looks at limiting the number of late night refreshment and entertainment licences within specific areas of the Borough.
This consultation is required by law before the Council decides whether to revoke the designation or continue with it.
The objective of the Cumulative Impact Policy is to reduce crime and disorder and public nuisance in areas with a high saturation of licensed premises.

We’re looking for more catering suppliers
The Council wants to expand its Food Business Directory list of approved catering suppliers for the smaller events which we organise.
To be considered, caterers must:
- Be based in Newham.
- Pay the London Living Wage to all staff (currently £11.05 and increasing to £11.95 this May).
- Have a Food Standards Agency four or five star rating.
- Offer high quality food which is healthy and sustainable.
- Invest in skills training for themselves and their staff.

 £25,000 Lyle’s Local Fund
Tate & Lyle Sugars Local Fund, now in its 7th year, will be open for applications on 4 October.
The £25,000 fund aims to support safe, prosperous and healthy communities in Newham. The fund has awarded over £175,000 to over 80 projects in the borough since it launched in 2017.
Newham’s social enterprises, schools, charities, community groups and not-for-profit organisations can all apply.
Grants of up to £2,500 are available and will be paid before the end of 2023.
Applications close at 17:00 on Friday 3 November.
