The Sunborn London becomes the first hotel in the Royal Docks to be accredited as a Living Wage Employer
Earlier this month an official Living Wage Accreditation Plaque was handed to Sunborn London, the very first hotel to achieve the Living Wage Employer accreditation in the Royal Docks.
The Council has been working with the Royal Docks Living Wage Action Group to grow the number of Living Wage employers in Newham to make the Royal Docks a Living Wage location since the group’s inception in June 2021.
Since then, 33 new organisations in the borough have become Living Wage Employers. There are now 28 employers who are based in the Royal Docks and are accredited as ‘Living Wage Employers’, committed to paying their staff at least the real Living Wage of £11.95.
Councillor Caroline Adaja, Deputy Cabinet Member for Community Wealth Building, Business, Enterprise and Future World of Work (pictured right above) said: “It's now more important than ever to ensure local employers pay the real Living Wage, which will help ease the cost-of-living crisis affecting many Londoners. Apart from being the right thing to do, paying the real Living Wage will drive forward an agenda around fairness whilst encouraging and supporting businesses to provide their employees with stability and security through these tough times.”
We encourage all Newham businesses to become a Living Wage Employer. It takes just three easy steps:
