Dealing with ice and snow

Havering Council’s salting teams operate to a planned schedule with certain routes taking priority.

Salting is likely when road temperatures are at or below 1°C, and moisture is present or likely to be present to form ice.

In case of severe winter weather salting will be concentrated on the main roads. These main routes cover 288 kilometres and account for 47 per cent of the borough’s roads.

Transport for London is responsible for salting the A12, A13 and A127 within the borough and the Highways Agency is responsible for the M25.

Full details of the four priority one routes can be found in the Operational Plan here.

Avoid roadworks for a quicker journey

Getting stuck in traffic due to roadworks can be frustrating and cause journey delays.

This can be avoided using a website that shows where all roadworks in Havering are taking place. The website includes work being done by gas, electricity, water, telecom and other utilities as well as those being done by Havering Council.

You can check out roadworks in your area using this online map or across London using this map.
