Your Travel Update from Havering Council

Avoid roadworks for a quicker journey

Getting stuck in traffic due to roadworks can be frustrating and cause journey delays.

That can be avoided using a website that shows where all roadworks in Havering are taking place. The web site includes work being done by gas, electricity, water, telecom and other utilities as well as those being done by Havering Council.

You can check out roadworks in your area using this online map or across London using this map.

Buses on diversion

Until 4pm on Friday 22 August 2014 contractors working on behalf of Havering Council will be carrying out resurfacing works in Orange Tree Hill and North Road so the road will be closed.

Bus routes 375 and 575 will be diverted due to this road closure.

Strike action on Tube

ASLEF union has called a strike on the Central line on Friday 22 August 2014, which will also affect Waterloo & City line services.

If the strike goes ahead, parts or all of the Central line may be suspended, and if trains do run they will be at a reduced frequency.

TFL does not expect any Central line trains to run in the early morning or late at night, or to run at all through central London.

The Waterloo & City line will also be affected, and may be suspended.

Notting Hill Carnival

The Notting Hill Carnival takes place on Sunday 24 August and Bank Holiday Monday 25 August.

Motorists are advised to avoid driving in the Notting Hill area at the weekend because of a number of road closures. The easiest ways to travel to and from the Carnival will be by Tube, bus, cycling or walking. Some stations will be closed or will be exit only.

Public transport users and drivers are advised to plan their journeys in advance
