The Compact Agreement in Havering is promoted through the Compact Steering Group. The Compact Agreement is:
- A voluntary agreement that aims to foster strong, effective partnerships between public bodies and voluntary organisations.
- Its principles apply to all relationships between voluntary organisations and public bodies that are distributing funds on behalf of the government.
Dear All,
As your cabinet member, I wanted to give my heartfelt thanks for the work you have done in this most difficult of years and to pass on my sincere thanks to all of our volunteers.
Thank you for the care and support you have given our residents. Thank you for going the extra mile to help them and for the support you have given to each other. Thank you for the support you have given to me, so that together we weere able to ensure our residents have the services they deserve.
I know each of you will have had difficult issues to overcome this past year – whether that is working from home, keeping front line services running in crisis, taking on new responsibilities and supporting our most vulnerable residents. Those are just the work challenges. I know full well how difficult this past year has been for all our families.
I know many of you will have worked over the festive period, but I hope you all managed to take some time to relax and connect in a safe way with family and friends.
Hope we all have a happy and healthy New Year.

Volunteers are urgently needed to help support the NHS vaccination programme. If you have furloughed staff or volunteers who cannot be used at the moment, could you ask them if they could volunteer to support the roll-out.
The work involves:
- Guide elderly residents to the entry point of either Raphael House, Pettit’s Lane and Hornchurch Library
- Remind folk to keep socially-distanced and to wear face masks
- Support flow-through the buildings
- Observe people who have been vaccinated for the customary 15 minutes
- Support residents to exit the building safely
If they can help, please email Charlie Allen.
Thank you for your help.
