Half Term fun at Fairkytes

Our children’s activities for Half Term week are now on sale! We’ve got exciting arts & crafts and performing arts workshops for children aged five and over (half days) or eight and over (full days).

The full list of activities is as follows:

Fairkytes children with clay

Tuesday 31 May:

Clay Day (ages 8+) 10am - 3pm (Full Day)

Make your own models from clay which are fired in our special kiln for you to collect later. Cost: £10 per place.

Tuesday 31 May:

Annie ‘The Movie Drama Workshop’ (ages 8+) 10am - 3pm

A dance and drama workshop based on the 2014 movie version of the classic story. Cost: £10 per place.

Fairkytes Children with clay 2

Wednesday 1 June:

Clay (Half Day) (ages 5+) 10am-12 noon

A fun workshop for younger children making models from dry clay to take home straight away. Cost: £5 per place.

Fairkytes children painting

Wednesday 1 June:

Acrylic Art Workshop (ages 8+) 10am-3pm

A full day art workshop learning to create a seascape on canvas using acrylic paints. Cost: £10 per place.

Thursday 2 June:

Character Cut-Outs (ages 5+) 10am-12 noon

Make a card figure which you can decorate or dress up as a fairy, clown, your favourite superhero or princess. Cost: £5 per place.

Fairkytes chidlren's dance

Friday 3 June:

Street Dance (ages 5+) 10am-12 noon

Join us to learn dance routines to the latest pop hits to perform for friends and family. Cost: £5 per place.

How to book

Book in person at Fairkytes Arts Centre. Telephone bookings: 01708 456308

Booking times are: Monday - Friday 10am - 9pm, Saturday 10am - 4pm and Sunday 10am - 1pm.

  • Payment methods accepted: cash, cheque or credit/debit cards.
  • Please note there is a 1.5% charge for credit cards - no charge for debit cards.
  • Tickets must be bought in advance. They will not be on sale on the day.
  • We cannot offer refunds, but can exchange tickets for other workshops with available spaces.
  • Please be sure before you book as mistakes cannot always be rectified later.

Important information

Children attending full day workshops should bring a packed lunch.  All children are advised to bring a small snack and drink.

Fairkytes Live

Fairkytes Live is Hornchurch's newest live music venue. Situated within the Annexe of Fairkytes Arts Centre​ it has a licensed bar and a full programme of live music and comedy.

Puck from A Midsummer's Night Dream

Shakespeare in the Garden: A Midsummer Night’s Dream

Saturday 16 July, 6pm

Once again, Equity approved touring performers Illyria will be visiting Hornchurch for our annual performance of Shakespeare in the Fairkytes garden. Marking the 400th anniversary of the Bard’s passing, this year’s production is the comedy A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Craft Gallery

Fairkytes Craft Gallery is an exciting and recent addition to our Centre. Come and see the wide range of different crafts on display and for sale, all hand-made by centre users, local craftspeople, or special guest artists.

Rooms and studio for hire

If you’re looking for a room to hold your class or a meeting place for your club, Fairkytes has a number of simple, adaptable spaces in a range of sizes, all at reasonable cost.

​Whether you need a clear area for dance, tables and chairs for a meeting or a cabaret style layout for a quiz night, we can be of help. Every room has folding tables and stacking chairs.  Other facilities available include a projector and screen, CD players, TV, DVD and video playback, PA system, sound and lighting decks and disco lighting.
