Landlord to pay more than £100,000 over illegal flats
Mrs Jaghtar Khaira of Elm Park has been ordered to pay £101,300 for building illegal flats at her property.
Mrs Khaira was ordered to pay £88,500 at Snaresbrook Crown Court
under the Proceeds of Crime Act. She was also fined £2,500 for a second
offence of failing to comply with an earlier Enforcement Notice and a
further £10,300 for prosecution costs. Further information available here.
Harrow Lodge Park lake pollution solution
Thames Water
has told the Council that they have discovered misconnected plumbing in local
homes and businesses has been among the causes of years of pollution in Harrow Lodge
Park. Six properties have so far been identified as being misconnected, with nine
appliances sending waste water to the wrong place. One was a local café which
immediately rectified the problem and we are already seeing an increase in the
quality of the water in the lake.
Thames Water
needs to check about 1,100 nearby properties. A team goes from door to door and
using a harmless dye, can check that each is connected to the correct sewer
system.
