 Avoid debris in separating walls
Allowing mortar (and debris) to accumulate within the cavity and on wall ties can seriously affect the sound insulation performance of a separating wall.

Insulated dry lining
Internal
insulated dry lining involves lining the inside of the wall with
insulated plasterboard and needs joinery-like precision to avoid air
leakage and cold bridging.
Please
remember, if you’re affecting more than 25% of the surface area of the
wall you’ll need a building regulation application.
Here are a few tips:
- Make sure existing plaster is in good condition if it’s remaining in place.
- Removing the plaster can create extra space and provide better fixing for ‘dot n dab’.
- Ensure there are no gaps in the insulation, especially around joints and corners.
- Insulate reveals and returns to avoid cold bridging.
