Information from Havering Council about possible travel hotspots next week

New fares, new helpline and no card fees

New official charges and some changes in tariffs have come into force for the 22,500 licensed taxis in Greater London.

The minimum fare has gone up to £2.60 but taxi drivers are no longer allowed to make a surcharge if you pay by credit or debit card for your journey.

Transport for London has also launched a new online service here so customers can comment on using taxi and private hire services in the capital.

TfL Rail closures

Every Sunday until 8am, buses replace trains between Shenfield and Ilford, due to Network Rail track works.

Rail upgrade work

Until Sunday 10 April, improvement work is taking place on the line between London Liverpool Street and Ingatestone. Bus replacement services will operate. Passengers are advised to check details of their journey here.

Harold Wood Station

From April until June, work will begin on refurbishing the existing ticket hall, and the temporary ticket hall in the car park will come into use.

Gidea Park Station

A temporary ticket office has been positioned outside the main station ticket hall. 

Until June 2016 two lift shafts are being built which involves driving steel piles into the ground.

Until September 2016 platform extension works at the eastern end of the station will be taking place, including some sheet piling.

Until May 2016 extensive work will be taking place at the sidings, including some night-time deliveries by rail and road.

Until October 2016 the existing sidings will be extended towards the A127 bridge, including vegetation clearance and building of a new retaining wall. This will include some weekend working.

Romford Station work

Until April 2016 work will take place, between 11.30pm each Friday and 5am each Monday, to build the new platforms, which will include some pile driving.

Roadworks

From Monday 11 April until Friday 15 April roadworks will take place in Heather Avenue, Romford. Temporary traffic lights will be in use.

Until Monday 11 April roadworks will take place near Koi Logic in St Mary’s Lane, Upminster. Temporary traffic lights will be in use 8am – 5pm.

Until Wednesday 13 April roadworks will take place near the junction of Noak Hill Road and Kynance Close, Harold Hill. Temporary traffic lights will be in use 8.30am – 3.30pm.

Until Thursday 24 May temporary traffic lights will be used between 9.30am and 3pm at seven different places on Noak Hill Road, Harold Hill while Transport for London (TfL) do work to make bus stops more accessible.

Until Friday 22 July work will take place on Main Road, Gidea Park to install a cycle lane. Changes are also being made to pedestrian crossings and parking arrangements in Brentwood Road, Gidea Park. Temporary traffic lights and lane closures will be used while this work is underway.

The following temporary road closures are in place:

Until Wednesday 18 May, between 9.30am and 3.30pm Salisbury Road, Gidea Park will be closed in both directions, between Brentwood Road and Heath Park Road.

A127 lane reopens

during daytime

The eastbound lane which was closed as part of the Ardleigh Green Bridge replacement, will now be open during daytime working. This should continue until June.

Lanes on the A127 may still be closed overnight to allow work to take place as part of this scheme.

Access to the A127 from Bryant Avenue, Harold Wood will closed for around eight weeks from mid-April while essential utility works are carried out. 

Lane closure for road surface testing

Working with the Transport Research Laboratory, TfL will be carrying out road surface testing on the A127 on the evening of Wednesday 13 April

The A127 will be closed eastbound from Hall Lane from 9pm until 5am on Thursday 14 April. There will be no through route from Gallows Corner to the M25, however local access will be maintained. 

During the surface testing works, the diversion from Gallows Corner to the M25 will be via the A12.

During next week, as part of work being done by Highways England, there may be lane closures on the A13, near the junction with the M25.

Lodge Avenue flyover closure

Transport for London is doing essential works on the Lodge Avenue flyover which means it will be closed from 10pm Friday until 5am on Monday on the following weekends

  • 8 to 11 April
  • 15 to 18 April
  • 29 April to 2 May
