Information from Havering Council about possible travel hotspots next week

Roadworks sign

District Line closures

On Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 March, no service between West Kensington and Ealing Broadway or Richmond while track is replaced between Hammersmith and Turnham Green. Please use London Overground between Gunnersbury and Richmond. Replacement buses also operate.

London Overground closures

On Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 March, no service between Romford and Upminster due to Crossrail works. Please use local London Buses services instead.

TfL Rail logo

TfL Rail closures

On Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 March,  no service Liverpool Street to Shenfield due to planned engineering works. Please use TfL Rail replacement buses.

Every Sunday until 8am, buses replace trains between Shenfield and Ilford, due to Network Rail track works.

Air Line closure

The Emirates Air Line will close for its next annual planned maintenance work from Monday 7 to Sunday 13 March 2016.

Rail upgrade work

Until Sunday 10 April, improvement work is taking place on the line between London Liverpool Street and Ingatestone. Bus replacement services will operate. Passengers are advised to check details of their journey here.

Gidea Park Station

A temporary ticket office has been positioned outside the main station ticket hall. Ticketing services will be available from the temporary ticket office when the existing ticket hall is closed for refurbishment in March 2016. 

Until March 2016 the station footbridge is being stripped of rust and old paint with much of the work being done overnight.

Until June 2016 two lift shafts are being built which involves driving steel piles into the ground.

Until September 2016 platform extension works at the eastern end of the station will be taking place, including some sheet piling.

Gidea Park sidings

Until May 2016 extensive work will be taking place at the sidings, including some night-time deliveries by rail and road.

Until October 2016 the existing sidings will be extended towards the A127 bridge, including vegetation clearance and building of a new retaining wall. This will include some weekend working.

Apologies from Crossrail

All the above work will involve noise overnight and/or at weekends. Crossrail apologise for disturbance caused to residents.

Romford Station work

Until April 2016 work will take place, between 11.30pm each Saturday and 5am each Monday, to build the new platforms, which will include some pile driving.

There will also be some diversions for pedestrians and cyclists using the Exchange Street entrance.

Roadworks

From Friday 4 March until Saturday 5 March, road works will take place on Orange Tree Hill, Havering-atte-Bower, at the junction with North Road. Temporary traffic lights will be in use between 10pm and 4.30am.

Until Tuesday 15 March, road works will take place outside 60 Hornchurch Road, Hornchurch. Temporary traffic lights will be in use.

Until Friday 11 March, road works will take place outside 23 Front Lane, Upminster. Temporary traffic lights will be in use.

On Friday 11 March, road works will take place outside Crow Lane, Rush Green. Temporary traffic lights will be in use from 9.30am until 3.30pm.

On Saturday 12 March, road works will take place on Rainham Road, Rainham, near the junction with Stanley Road North.. Temporary traffic lights will be in use.

Main Road improvements

On Monday 7 March, work is due to start on major improvements to the junction of Main Road with Upper Brentwood Road, Gidea Park - near Gallows Corner.

The scheme includes:

Creation of a protected cycle lane

Introduction of 13 pay and display parking outside the shops at Upper Brentwood Road

Provision of a speed table at entrance to Hockley Drive

Changes to parking, waiting and loading restrictions

Removal of the existing pedestrian crossing

Installation of a Toucan crossing for cyclists and pedestrians and a second pedestrian crossing

Road closures

The following temporary road closures are in place:

Until Wednesday 18 May, between 9.30am and 3.30pm Salisbury Road, Gidea Park will be closed in both directions, between Brentwood Road and Heath Park Road.

A127 road and footway closures

Until the end of March one eastbound lane will be closed as part of the Ardleigh Green Bridge replacement. The footway and verge within the traffic island at the junction of the A127 and Bryant Avenue will also be closed during the same period.

During next week, as part of work being done by Highways England, there may be lane closures on the A13, near the junction with the M25.

Highways England has launched the next stage in the formal consultation on the Lower Thames Crossing project at a location east of Gravesend and Tilbury.

The Highways England proposed route would connect the A2/M2 in Kent with the M25 north of the river at a new junction between Junctions 29 and 30 (A127 and A13). The proposed route would join the M25 between north and south Ockendon close to Ockendon Road in Havering.

Transport for London is proposing road safety improvements at Gallows Corner. Full details available here and you can make your views known here. Deadline is Sunday 13 March.

Romford Station plaza 2016

Plans to improve Romford Station area

Havering Council, in partnership with Transport for London, has unveiled updated plans to transform Romford station – as part of a series of major improvements on the eastern section of the Crossrail route, between Stratford and Shenfield.

The plans are on display at Romford Library until Friday 11 March.

On Monday 29 February, Havering Council installed an experimental road closure in Cedar Road, Romford, near the junction with Chesham Close. Details of the scheme can be seen here  and comments should be made by email here by the deadline of Friday 26 August 2016.
