Information from Havering Council about possible travel hotspots next week

District Line closures

Trains will not run between Tower Hill and Upminster while track and drainage replacement work takes place at Barking and Hornchurch, as well as Crossrail work at Whitechapel.

London Overground closures

On Sunday 14 February,  until noon, no service between Gospel Oak and Barking to help prepare the line for electrification. Replacement buses will operate.

TfL Rail closures

Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 February. No service Liverpool Street to Shenfield due to planned engineering works. Please use TfL Rail replacement buses.

Every Sunday until 8am, buses replace trains between Shenfield and Ilford, due to Network Rail track works.

Rail upgrade work

Until Sunday 10 April, improvement work is taking place on the line between London Liverpool Street and Ingatestone. Bus replacement services will operate. Passengers are advised to check details of their journey here.

Gidea Park Station

Until March 2016 the station footbridge is being stripped of rust and old paint with much of the work being done overnight.

Until June 2016 two lift shafts are being built which involves driving steel piles into the ground.

Until September 2016 platform extension works at the eastern end of the station will be taking place, including some sheet piling.

Until May 2016 extensive work will be taking place at the sidings, including some night-time deliveries by rail and road.

Until October 2016 the existing sidings will be extended towards the A127 bridge, including vegetation clearance and building of a new retaining wall. This will include some weekend working.

Apologies from Crossrail

All the above work will involve noise overnight and/or at weekends. Crossrail apologise for disturbance caused to residents.

Romford Station work

Until April 2016 work will take place, between 11.30pm each Saturday and 5am each Monday, to build the new platforms, which will include some pile driving.

There will also be some diversions for pedestrians and cyclists using the Exchange Street entrance.

Roadworks

On Sunday 14 February, road works will take place outside 263 South Street, Romford. Temporary traffic lights will be in use between 8am and 4pm.

On Tuesday 16 February, road works will take place in North Street, Hornchurch, near the junction with Westlands Avenue. Temporary traffic lights will be in use between 9.30am and 3pm.

On Tuesday 16 February, road works will mean the closure of Westlands Avenue, Hornchurch at the junction with North Street.

From Tuesday 16 February until Monday 21 February road works will take place outside 17 Suttons Lane, Hornchurch. Temporary traffic lights will be in use.

Until Friday 26 February, road works will take place on St Mary’s Lane, Upminster. Temporary traffic lights will be in use from 9.30am until 3pm and a bus stop will be suspended.

Until Friday 26 February, road works to provide bus stops will take place at seven locations on Ockendon Road, Upminster. Temporary traffic lights will be in use between 9.30am and 3pm.

Road closures

The following temporary road closures are in place:

On Monday 15 February, resurfacing work means Balgores Lane, Gidea Park, will be closed from The Drill roundabout to Station Road.

On Tuesday 16 February, resurfacing work means Westlands Avenue, Hornchurch, will be closed.

Until Wednesday 18 May, between 9.30am and 3.30pm daily Salisbury Road, Gidea Park will be closed in both directions, between Brentwood Road and Heath Park Road.

A127 road and footway closures

Until the end of March one eastbound lane will be closed as part of the Ardleigh Green Bridge replacement. The footway and verge within the traffic island at the junction of the A127 and Bryant Avenue will also be closed during the same period.

During next week, as part of work being done by Highways England, there may be lane closures on the A13, near the junction with the M25.

A12 Brentwood: Bridge repairs

Highways England is repairing the joints on the Trueloves Bridge where the B1002 Roman Road crosses over the A12 at Heybridge, between junctions 12 and 13 of the A12. Work will be between 8pm and 6am until Sunday 21 February.

M11 road sign

M11 improvement work

Improvement work on the M11, worth £4.7million, began on Monday 8 February and continue until the summer. The first phase of work will involve resurfacing the M11 southbound at junction 8 (Stansted Airport).  The work will be carried out overnight from 10pm until 6am and is expected to last two weeks.

Further embankment and drainage work will take place at junction 8 from Friday 26 February.

Lower Thames Crossing

The plans will be exhibited at Upminster Junior School, St Mary’s Lane, Upminster, RM14 3BS, on Monday 15 February, 11am – 7pm. Full details on the proposals can be seen here and views submitted here. Deadline for comments is Thursday 24 March.

Highways England has launched the next stage in the formal consultation on the Lower Thames Crossing project, beneath the Thames at a location east of Gravesend and Tilbury.

The Highways England proposed route would connect the A2/M2 in Kent with the M25 north of the river at a new junction between Junctions 29 and 30 (A127 and A13). The proposed route would join the M25 between north and south Ockendon close to Ockendon Road in Havering.

Vehicle ban proposed outside Romford Library

Havering Council is currently consulting on a proposed ban on vehicles using the open space outside Romford Library. Cyclists will still be able to use the area. Full details of the proposals can be viewed here and comments should be sent by email by the deadline of Friday 26 February.

Transport for London is proposing road safety improvements at Gallows Corner.

You can discuss these proposals with staff from Transport for London at The Liberty shopping centre, Romford RM1 3RL on Friday 26 February, 9am - 6pm.

Plans to improve Harold Wood Station area

Havering Council, in partnership with Transport for London, has unveiled updated plans to transform Harold Wood station – as part of a series of major improvements on the Eastern section of the Crossrail route, between Stratford and Shenfield.

Central to the Council’s proposals is the design and creation of a new plaza at the station’s secondary entrance, within the car park, and improvements to the pedestrian crossing on Station Road.

Residents can find out more here, when the consultation launches on Monday 15 February, and make their views known before the deadline of Friday 26 February.  Council staff will be at Harold Wood Library on Thursday 18 February, 9am - 8pm, to answer questions from residents

Cedar Road, Romford, road closure

On Monday 29 February, Havering Council is installing an experimental road closure in Cedar Road, Romford, near the junction with Chesham Close. Details of the scheme can be seen here  and comments should be made by email here by the deadline of Friday 26 August 2016.

Angel Way, Romford

Havering Council is currently consulting on proposals to upgrade the cycle route in Angel Way, Romford between St Edwards Way and High Street, alter the existing disabled parking bays and create two freight loading bays.
