Shoppers will be able to get a taste of the Mediterranean on Sunday 28 February when an Italian Market returns to Upminster. Stalls will be in Corbets Tey Road from 10am to 4pm.

Tee off for new golf season

Hall Lane Mini Golf Course in Upminster is now open at weekends and during school holidays, 10am – 5pm, at cost of £5 for adults and £3 for children and concessions. Group bookings are available at other times.

If you have children in school years two to 11 there’s a range of Easter holiday activities available at the Stubbers Smash Camps, from Monday 28 March to Friday 8 April. The camps are available from 8.30am to 6pm.

Try Nordic Walking

Havering Nordic Walkers Club is holding a Nordic Ski Fit programme from Saturday 9 January until Saturday 13 February. The club also holds monthly ‘Learn to Nordic Walk’ sessions at Thames Chase Community Forest Visitors’ Centre in Pike Lane, Upminster. Regular Workout Walks, Ski Fit and Sunday Walkout sessions are also held. Book a place now.

On Sunday 12 June 2016, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II will celebrate her 90th birthday. 

Communities across Havering can be part of this national celebration by organising a neighbourhood street party.  Street parties are a great part of British life and an opportunity for communities to come together and celebrate national occasions.

Clean for the Queen logo

Clean for the Queen takes place from Friday 4 to Sunday 6 March and is a campaign to clear up Britain in time for Her Majesty the Queen’s 90th birthday, which will be officially celebrated in June 2016.

During that weekend the aim is for community groups, businesses, schools and individuals to spend an hour or two clearing litter from part of their neighbourhood.

Lower Thames Crossing consultation

Full details on the proposals, including how Upminster may be impacted by the scheme, can be seen here and views submitted here. Deadline for comments is Thursday 24 March.

Highways England has launched the next stage in the formal consultation on the Lower Thames Crossing project at a location east of Gravesend and Tilbury.

The Highways England proposed route would connect the A2/M2 in Kent with the M25 north of the river at a new junction between Junctions 29 and 30 (A127 and A13). The proposed route would join the M25 between north and south Ockendon close to Ockendon Road, Upminster.

Parks Protection at Upminster Junior School

Members of Havering Council’s Parks Protection Service recently gave a presentation at Upminster Junior School about keeping safe in the Borough’s parks and open spaces as well as how to use them responsibly so everyone can enjoy them.

Upminster Windmill

Upminster Windmill restoration

Havering Council and the Friends of Upminster Windmill have secured funding to restore the windmill to working order and provide an education and training centre on site.

During the work the windmill will be closed to visitors. Further details of the project are available here.
