Do you know somewhere in Harold Wood you can
Clean for the Queen takes place from Friday 4
to Sunday 6 March and is a campaign to clear up Britain in time for Her Majesty
the Queen’s 90th birthday, which will be officially celebrated in June 2016.
When she came to the throne litter was not
the problem it is today so during that weekend the aim is for community groups,
businesses, schools and individuals to spend an hour or two clearing litter
from part of their neighbourhood.

The Friends of Harold Wood Parks and 6th Squirrel Heath Beaver Scouts (pictured) have already signed up to get
involved. In the past Harold Wood Police Safer Neighbourhoods Team have also been involved in cleaning up Painesbrook Park (pictured above)If you're involved with a community group, school or business why not
follow their example and volunteer too?
We all know a local place where litter
gathers, so register your interest in a Havering Clean for the Queen event here and
let’s get it cleared up.

Plans to improve Harold Wood Station
Havering Council, in partnership with Transport for London, has unveiled updated
plans to transform Harold Wood station – as part of a series of major
improvements on the Eastern section of the Crossrail route, between
Stratford and Shenfield.
Central to the Council’s proposals is the design and creation of a
new plaza at the station’s secondary entrance, within the car park, and
improvements to the pedestrian crossing on Station Road.
Residents can
find out more here, when the consultation launches on Monday 15 February, and
make their views known before the deadline of Friday 26 February. Council staff will be at Harold
Wood Library on Thursday 18 February to answer questions from residents.
Harold Wood Library is looking for volunteers to work alongside
staff.
Volunteers can help with everything from
creating exciting book displays to shelf stacking, from helping with baby-bounce events
or teaching people how to use computers and iPads right through to fundraising
or helping libraries reach more people.
See what we are looking for here and sign up here to register your interest.
A127 road and
footway closures

eastbound while the Metropolitan Police and Transport for London test road
surface and vehicle skidding.
Until the end of March one eastbound lane
will be closed as part of the Ardleigh Green Bridge replacement. The footway
and verge within the traffic island at the junction of the A127 and Bryant
Avenue will also be closed during the same period.

Lower Thames Crossing - new M25 junction possible in Harold Wood
Highways England has launched the next stage
in the formal consultation on the Lower Thames Crossing project, beneath the
Thames at a location east of Gravesend and Tilbury.
The Highways England proposed route would

between junctions 29 and 30 (A127 and A13). The proposed route would join the
M25 between north and south Ockendon close to Ockendon Road in Havering.
The plans will be exhibited at Upminster
Junior School, St Mary’s Lane, Upminster, RM14 3BS, on Monday 15
February, 11am – 7pm. Full details on the proposals can
be seen here and views submitted here. Deadline for comments is
