Information from Havering Council about possible travel hotspots next week

London Overground closures

Sunday 31 January, all morning until noon, no service between Gospel Oak and Barking. Replacement buses operate.

Every Sunday until 8am, buses replace trains between Shenfield and Ilford, due to Network Rail track works.

Stansted Express

Buses will replace trains from London Liverpool Street to Stansted Airport every weekend in January while track replacement work takes place.

Rail upgrade work

From Saturday 6 February until Sunday 10 April, improvement work is taking place on the line between London Liverpool Street and Ingatestone. Bus replacement services will operate. Passengers are advised to check details of their journey here.

Gidea Park Station

Until March 2016 the station footbridge is being stripped of rust and old paint with much of the work being done overnight.

Until June 2016 two lift shafts are being built which involves driving steel piles into the ground.

Until September 2016 platform extension works at the eastern end of the station will be taking place, including some sheet piling.

Until May 2016 extensive work will be taking place at the sidings, including some night-time deliveries by rail and road.

Apologies

All the above work will involve noise overnight and/or at weekends. Crossrail apologise for disturbance caused to residents.

Romford Station work

Until April 2016 work will take place, between 11.30pm each Saturday and 5am each Monday, to build the new platforms, which will include some pile driving.

There will also be some diversions for pedestrians and cyclists using the Exchange Street entrance.

Roadworks

Until Friday 29 January, road works will take place outside Rainham Hall, Broadway, Rainham. Temporary traffic lights will be in use between 9.30am and 3.30pm.  

Until Monday 01 February road works will take place on Exchange Street, Romford. One lane will be closed and temporary traffic lights will be in use.

Until Friday 12 February road works will take place in  Havering Road, Collier Row, between Collier Row Lane and Saffron Road. Temporary traffic lights will be in use and a bus stop will be suspended.

Until Friday 26 February, road works will take place on St Mary’s Lane, Upminster. Temporary traffic lights will be in use from 9.30am until 3pm and a bus stop will be suspended.

Until Friday 26 February, road works to provide bus stops will take place at seven locations on Ockendon Road, Upminster. Temporary traffic lights will be in use between 9.30am and 3pm.

Road closures

The following temporary road closures are in place:

Until Wednesday 18 May, between 9.30am and 3.30pm daily Salisbury Road, Gidea Park will be closed in both directions, between Brentwood Road and Heath Park Road.

Subway steps closure

From Wednesday 3 February until Friday 5 February the steps to the subway under the roundabout at the junction of Main Road and St Edward's Way will be closed for maintenance work.

Similar work will be taking place on the ramps but access through the subway will still be possible using the ramps.

M25 lane closures

The next stage of an £80 million scheme to relieve congestion around junction 30 of the M25 and the A13 corridor near Thurrock in Essex is underway and will last until Friday 5 February.

Lanes on the slip roads and the junction rounadabout will be reduced to a single lane overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am.

These restrictions will be in place to keep drivers and road workers safe while they are carrying out improvement works and also to reduce conflict from merging traffic.

A127 road and footway closures

On Wednesday 10 February, 9pm until Thursday 11 February 5am, the A127 Southend Arterial Road will be closed eastbound while the Metropolitan Police and Transport for London test road surface and vehicle skidding.

Until the end of March one eastbound lane will be closed as part of the Ardleigh Green Bridge replacement. The footway and verge within the traffic island at the junction of the A127 and Bryant Avenue will also be closed during the same period.

During next week, as part of work being done by Highways England, there may be lane closures on the A13, near the junction with the M25.

Havering Council is consulting on proposals to install pedestrian refuges and reduce the size of junctions in Brentwood Road, Gidea Park. Full details are available here and comments should be emailed to Nicola Childs by Friday 12 February.

Lower Thames Crossing

Highways England has launched the next stage in the formal consultation on the Lower Thames Crossing project, beneath the Thames at a location east of Gravesend and Tilbury.

The Highways England proposed route would connect the A2/M2 in Kent with the M25 north of the river at a new junction between Junctions 29 and 30 (A127 and A13). The proposed route would join the M25 between north and south Ockendon close to Ockendon Road in Havering.

The plans will be exhibited at Upminster Junior School, St Mary’s Lane, Upminster, RM14 3BS, on Monday 15 February, 11am – 7pm. Full details on the proposals can be seen here and views submitted here. Deadline for comments is Thursday 24 March.

Rainham river crossing consultation

The Mayor of London has published details of 13 new river crossings for London between Fulham and Dartford. Full details are available in Connecting the Capital.
