Gidea Park Station work over Christmas

Between 11pm on Thursday 24 December and 8am on Monday 4 January Crossrail will be renewing 200 metres of track at the east end of the station along with associated overhead line works.

Harold Wood Station work at Christmas

During the period from Thursday 24 December to Monday 4 January,  new cabling will be installed along the full length of platforms and platforms will be extended at the eastern end of the station, so deliveries will take place through the car park. Work will also be taking place to build foundations for the new lifts.

Consultations

Town centre traffic calming

Havering Council is currently consulting on installing a new zebra crossing, pedestrian refuges and traffic calming measures in Western Road, Romford. Consultation deadline Friday 8 January.

Accessible bus stops

Proposals to make some bus stops in the following roads accessible  are currently out for consultation:

  • Bevan Way, Hornchurch
  • Bridge Road, Rainham
  • Clay Tye Road, Upminster
  • North Road, Havering-atte-Bower

Consultation deadline Friday 8 January.

Rainham river crossing consultation

The Mayor of London has published details of 13 new river crossings for London between Fulham and Dartford. Full details are available in Connecting the Capital.

Consultation on a new bridge linking the A13 at Rainham to Belvedere is taking please until Friday 12 February 2016. Make your views known here.

TfL Rail closures

Every Sunday until 8am, buses replace trains between Shenfield and Ilford, due to Network Rail track works.

Roadworks

Until Tuesday 22 December, road works to provide bus stops will take place at three locations on Ockendon Road, Upminster. Temporary traffic lights will be in use between 9.30am and 3pm.

at Christmas

The main changes to services on the key days are outlined below. Here is a one page summary of the services running each day.

Christmas Eve, Thursday 24 December - Most Tube and rail services will run normally until around early evening. Buses and the DLR will operate a Saturday service. Last trains will be earlier than usual and most buses will run until just after midnight.

Christmas Day, Friday 25 December - There will be no service on the entire TfL network.

Boxing Day, Saturday 26 December - A Sunday service will operate on most of the network. There will be no service on London Overground, TfL Rail or the Waterloo & City line.

Bank Holiday, Monday 28 December - A Saturday service will operate on most of the network. TfL Rail will run a reduced service.

New Year’s Eve, Thursday 31 December Free travel will be provided on all of our services from 11.45pm until 4.30am, or last service. Buses run throughout the night.

From around 2pm, Waterloo, Westminster and Jubilee Bridges, and roads in central London will start to close to prepare for the ticketed fireworks event. Buses will gradually be withdrawn. All bridge and road closures will be in place from 8pm and most will re-open at 6am on Friday 1 January, or when it is safe to do so. Central London road closures will remain until 6pm because of the New Year’s Day Parade.

New Year’s Day, Friday 1 January - A special service will operate on most of the network. Buses will run a Sunday service.

Parking at night

Rule 248

You MUST NOT park on a road at night facing against the direction of the traffic flow unless in a recognised parking space.

This means that vehicles should see your red rear reflectors as they approach your parked vehicle.

A127 service bridge

A127 bridge lifted into place

Last weekend saw a new bridge lifted into place as part of Transport for London's work on the A127.  The bridge will take gas, electricity, water and other services.

Bus station closure

Liverpool Street bus station will be closed until spring 2016, which will affect passengers who travel on routes 11, 23, 133, N11 and N133. Leaflets, including walking maps to the alternative bus stops and route finders are available to customers at the bus station and customer information centre in the days leading up to its closure.  

All registered Oyster card holders who regularly use the routes to and from the bus station will also receive emails about the closure with advice on how to plan their journeys until the station re-opens.  More details at TfL Buses.

A13 lane closures

During next week, as part of work being done by Highways England,  there may be lane closures on the A13, near the junction with the M25.

A12 lane closures

Until Monday 21 December Transport for London (TfL) will be repairing pavements along the A12 between Mawney Road, Romford and Whalebone Lane, Dagenham. This will require a rolling programme of lane closures along this stretch of the A12 and will lead to delays for motorists.
