Win £1,000 in Christmas Talent Show

Enter the Romford Talent Show to win a first prize of £1,000, and fantastic runner up prizes, donated by Europe's largest operator of local authority markets, Market Geraud.

Musicians, magicians, jugglers, comedians, singers and dancers are all welcome. Havering Council and Market Geraud would like to invite everyone who has a family-friendly talent to enter this fantastic fun competition.

The deadline for entries is Monday 7 December. Download the application form here.

The first round of performances is on Friday 11 December, 5pm until 8pm on the Romford Market stage and the final is on Friday 18 December, 6pm until 8pm.

Choose the song for Coca-Cola Choir

The Coca-Cola Christmas truck will be at Romford Market on Sunday 20 December and accompanying it is the Coca-Cola choir, which will be singing Christmas songs.

You can choose which ones they will sing at Romford Market by choosing your top three from the list below and posting them on twitter using the hashtag #holidaysarecomingRomford.

The songs to choose from are:

Romford Market Christmas lights and church

Romford Market will turn into a Christmas Village with a licensed bar and on-stage entertainment, throughout the three week trading period, from Wednesday 9 December until Christmas Eve.

The market will be open every day until late in the evening.

From Friday 18 December until Christmas Eve, a Continental Christmas Market will also be open for business offering festive food and gifts.

Santa Bear and his reindeer friends will be visiting Romford Market from 11am until 3pm on Sundays 13 and 20 December.

Scouts benefit from Santa

When you visit Father Christmas in his grotto at Romford Shopping Hall, £1.20 of the £5 you pay goes to 2nd Romford Scout Group, and you get a present too.

The Mayor of Havering, Councillor Brian Eagling, officially opened the grotto.

Letters to Father Christmas can now be posted in the green post box outside Tollgate House on any market day. The last posting day for all good boys and girls to get a reply from Father Christmas is Thursday 17 December, but remember to include your address.

Liberty Centre, Romford by Sunday 20 December. All toys are distributed to local chidlrens’ homes, hospitals and hospices.

Romford Market currently has some spaces for new traders. Preference will be given to those wanting to trade on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays but there is also limited space available for casual traders wanting to operate on one day only.

Havering Police Safer Transport Team security code cycles free of charge in Romford Market each month.

The next session will be on Saturday 5 December, between 11.00am and 2.00pm at the South Street end of the market place, near Cycles UK. Everyone who gets their bike marked will receive a free puncture repair kit. Details are added to the Bike Register.
