TfL Rail closures

Every Sunday until 8am, buses replace trains between Shenfield and Ilford, due to Network Rail track works.

For up to date information follow TfL Rail on Twitter.

A12 lane closures

Until Monday 21 December Transport for London (TfL) will be repairing pavements along the A12 between Mawney Road, Romford and Whalebone Lane, Dagenham. This will require a rolling programme of lane closures along this stretch of the A12 and will lead to delays for motorists.

Transport for London

A127 closure this weekend

Transport for London (TfL) will be closing the A127 Southend Arterial Road from Gallows Corner to the Ardleigh Green Road/Squirrels Heath Road traffic lights from 8pm on Saturday 12 December until 8am on Sunday 13 December to install a service bridge. Diversions will be in place.

Residents on Southend Arterial Road will be able to access their properties at all times while the work is underway.

Roadworks

Until Tuesday 15 December road works will be taking place at Oldchurch Rise, Romford to install new CCTV cameras. The road will be reduced to one lane during the works.

On Friday 11 December, damaged bollards will be replaced on Noak Hill Road, Harold Hill, between Taunton Road and Kynance Close. Temporary traffic lights will be in use from 9.30am until 3.30pm.

On Sunday 13 December, the road surface will be replaced on St Mary’s Lane, Upminster, near the junction with Boundary Road. Temporary traffic lights will be in use from 9.30am until 3pm.

From Wednesday 16 December, until Friday 18 December Queens Gardens, Upminster, will be closed near the junction with Roseberry Gardens. Temporary traffic lights will be in use from 7.30am until 10pm.

Until Tuesday 22 December, road works to provide bus stops will take place at three locations on Ockendon Road, Upminster. Temporary traffic lights will be in use between 9.30am and 3pm.

Minicab enforcement activity

As part of the annual Safer Travel at Night initiative (STaN), there will be an increase in patrols and enforcement at key touting hotspots across London to deter illegal activity and help the public get home safely.

To support the campaign, TfL has produced a YouTube film, which highlights the work of police officers, from the TfL-funded Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) Cab Enforcement Unit.

STaN key messages:

  • If it’s not booked it’s not safe
  • If you approach a minicab directly, only the driver knows where you’re going
  • A minicab that has a licence or sticker in the window (or a driver who has a badge) still needs to be booked in advance. A booked minicab is one that is booked in advance with a licensed minicab firm so that your journey, the driver and the vehicle can be traced
  • Customers are not allowed to pick up a minicab offered by a bouncer or someone in a high vis jacket with a clipboard outside a venue
  • A minicab driver that approaches a customer directly on the street is acting illegally
  • Travelling with others (friends or partner) does not make an un-booked minicab safe (nor does cab sharing with a stranger)

Bus station closure
