Rainham to celebrate Christmas with craft and farmer's markets

Rainham gets into the Christmas spirit on Saturday 5 December with the festive fun starting at 10.30am and continuing to 3.30pm.

Father Christmas will be making an appearance within the village and you can join Mr Pickwick for an amble around the historical Village visiting the farmers market

And don't miss the Christmas craft and charity stalls in the Royals Youth Centre and at the Rainham Hall.

Plus free festive entertainment in the Church and The Broadway throughout the event.

London Bus

Extended bus service

Bus route 174, which runs between Harold Hill and Dagenham, has been extended to serve CEME on Marsh Way, Rainham, on Sundays, in line with the Monday to Saturday service. Plan your bus journey here.

Monitoring air quality

Rainham Village Primary School and Nursery is one of four primary schools in Havering taking part in a pilot project measuring air quality across the Borough.

Orchard Village recycling centre

Bring Bank facelift

The Bring Bank recycling centre at Orchard Village has been given a facelift. You can deposit glass, plastic bottles and tins or cans at the facility. Take a selfie of you making a deposit, tweet it to @RecycleLBH using #greenpoints or post it on Havering’s Waste Prevention Facebook page to claim 1,200 London Green Points, worth £3.

Volunteers needed at Rainham Hall

Now that Rainham Hall is open volunteers are needed to help make sure visitors get the most when they come to this beautifully restored, historic house run by The National Trust.

Council's budget plans

Rainham and Wennington residents and business people are encouraged to comment on the budget proposals before the deadline of Thursday 17 December 2015.

We have launched our budget consultation after proposals to save £24 million over the next three years were passed by Cabinet.

The proposals outline how we aim to make the savings by generating income through the introduction of a housing company and investing in renewable energy; by managing demand through encouraging residents to engage with us online and limiting the amount of waste left out for collection.

Local performers wanted

Poets, singers, musicians, rappers, jugglers, magicians and dancers are wanted to perform in A Not So Silent Night at the Mardyke Community Centre on Friday 4 December.

If you’re a Havering resident with a child under eight-years-old, they can swim for free at Chafford Sports Complex, in Rainham.
