Harold Hill War Memorial

Remembrance Sunday

Harold Hill’s Remembrance Day Service and wreath laying ceremony will take place at the War Memorial, Hilldene Shopping Centre, Harold Hill on Sunday 8 November. The two minutes’ silence will take place at 11am.

Bus stop consultation

Consultation is currently underway regarding accessibility of bus stops at Straight Road, Harold Hill.

Details of the proposals can be found at Accessible Bus Stops. Comments on the proposals should be emailed to The Principal Highways Engineer, not later than Friday 16 October.

20mph plan for Dagnam Park Drive

Havering Council is currently consulting on proposals to introduce a 20mph zone in Dagnam Park Drive, Harold Hill, near Brookside Primary School.

Deadline for responses is Friday 23 October.

Cycling grant for school

Broadford Primary School, in Harold Hill, has received £2,785 from Transport for London for cycle storage, cycle clubs and trips as well as for bikes for pupils to use during cycle training.

Snake seized

Police seized a six-feet-long Anaconda snake while exercising a search warrant in Harold Hill, on Thursday 1 October. The snake was re-homed to a zoo in Ireland.

Cash and cannabis seized

Police operating a search warrant, on Friday 2 October, at a property on the border of Harold Wood and Romford seized a large sum of cash, around £5,000 (pictured below), and a quantity of cannabis (pictured above).

 A 31-year-old man was arrested at a nearby Harold Hill address and is currently on bail.

Each police Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) holds meetings where the public can attend and ask questions and get crime prevention advice.

In Harold Hill there are two SNTs - Gooshays and Heaton - and their next meetings are:

Wednesday 21 October - drop in surgery

Three free courses for cyclists are running at myplace, Harold Hill during the school half-term holiday.

Start to Ride is a one-day course on Tuesday 27 October.

Bikeability Level One and Two is a two-day course on Wednesday 28 October and Thursday 29 October.

Bikeability Level Three is a one-day course on Friday 30 October.

Free cycle maintenance courses

The Council's cycle maintenance classes are up and running again.

The free classes at myplace, in Dagnam Park Drive, Harold Hill, includes a basic course, which covers how to fix a puncture, while the advanced course includes removal and installation of cycle parts. Get details of maintenance courses here.

Harold Hill Foodbank will benefit when Romford Salvation Army holds a Charity Concert at The Queen’s Theatre, Hornchurch from 2pm to 4.30pm on Wednesday 14 October.

Major James Williams is compering the event with guest artistes Joni Talks and William Byrne.

Tickets cost £10, from the Queens Theatre Box Office, with profits supporting the Harold Hill Foodbank.

Did you know that GPs in Havering have opened a weekend service? Local GPs are ready and waiting to see you from 12noon - 5pm on Saturday and 12noon - 4pm on Sunday.

Weekend GP appointments are easy and convenient, so if you are unwell or injured and can’t get to see your own GP during the week – call us this weekend. 

Any patient registered with a Havering GP can call to book an appointment direct on 020 3770 1888. Phone lines are open from 9am - 3pm on both days.
