Tamper proof screws cars

Secure your number plates for free at Tesco

London Riverside BID, Rainham and Wennington SNT and Havering Council will be Tesco in Bridge Road, Rainham on Tuesday 13 October, from 10am until 3pm, to fit free, tamper-proof screws to your vehicle's number plates.

This will prevent them being removed and used by thieves. Three in 10 thefts from motor vehicles in Havering are stolen number plates.

The stolen number plates are then used in other crimes, with the police tracking them back to the original owner.

Met Trace warning sign

Met Trace kits being delivered in Rainham

Residents in parts of Rainham and Wennington have been selected to receive Met Trace, a property marking system which is being delivered free of charge to help combat burglary.

The kits contain an invisible property marking solution, allowing owners to mark their possessions with a unique forensic code. They also contain warning stickers, for residents to display to deter burglars. This code can then be used by the police to trace the items should they ever be stolen and to link suspects to crime scenes.
