Harold Wood parks are London in Bloom winners

Harold Wood flower power has helped Havering win the top award in the London in Bloom 2015 competition with Harold Wood Park which won silver gilt in the Large Park of the Year category.

Havering won 47 of the 193 awards available across London and will now represent the capital in the Britain in Bloom 2016 competition.

Guitar - Beginners

Havering Adult College is offering the chance to learn guitar at Redden Court School, starting on Wednesday 23 September, 7pm – 9pm. This eight week course has a cost of £82. Enquire about enrolment here.

Acting Beginners

This 10-week acting course starts on Wednesday 30 September, 7:00pm - 9:30pm at Redden Court School. It is great for developing confidence, voice projection, breathing techniques, improvisation and characterisation. Ideal for beginners but also open to learners wishing to improve their skills. Cost is £102. Enquire about enrolment here.

Run for fun and Mayor’s charities

If you’re looking to keep fit and help a worthy cause at the same time this Fun Run on Sunday 18 October, from 11am, is for you.

Going through Paiges Wood and Harold Wood Park the run will raise money for the Mayor of Havering’s charities, which are First Steps and The Queen’s Hospital Special Care Baby Unit.

London 2012 legacy pedals on

Students from Redden Court School are being given the opportunity to cycle for free at the inspirational Lee Valley VeloPark which hosted the track cycling and BMX events during the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games during the Lee Valley VeloPark Schools Festival  at the world’s premier cycling venue.

The young people will have a go at track cycling in the iconic velodrome, BMX on the remodelled Olympic track, road cycling on the one mile circuit and mountain biking on extensive trails that weave around Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
