Raphael Park

Picking in the park

The Friends of Raphael Park organises a programme of litter picking at the park in Main Road, Gidea Park – do come along and lend a hand.

Sunday 16 August, 10am - 11am, meet at the playground

Tuesday 1 September, 10am - 12pm, meet at Raphael Park Cafe

Sunday 20 September, meet at the playground.

Recycling centre with new covers

Recycling centres looking better

Keep an eye open for the new look recycling centres at Angel Way, Romford (pictured), Elvet Avenue, Gidea Park, Town Hall car park, Main Road, Romford and William Pike House, St Andrews Road, Romford

Thanks to a grant from the London Waste and Recycling Board new covers are being installed to make the recycling centres more attractive.

Don’t forget if you recycle at one of the centres and post a selfie you will earn 1,200 Green Points, worth £3, to spend on a wide range of goods or services.


Lodge Farm Park

Green Flag parks

Lodge Farm Park (pictured), Cottons Park, and Raphael Park, in Romford, have retained their Green Flag status this year, confirming they are among the best in the country.

The award, handed out by Keep Britain Tidy, recognises and rewards the best parks and green spaces across the country.

Each police Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT)  holds meetings where the public can attend, ask questions and get crime prevention advice.

Tweedway 50+ Club

Starting on Tuesday 18 August this club will meet fortnightly at Havering Road Methodist Church Hall, Rise Park from 8pm until 10pm.

Anyone over the age of 45 can go along to play short mat bowls, snooker, darts, pool, table tennis and table games.

Youth Bus Lodge Farm Park

Youth bus in Lodge Farm Park

Havering Council’s Youth Bus will be in Lodge Farm Park, Gidea Park on Thursdays 20 and 27 August from 4pm until 6pm.

If you’re 11 to 19 come along and try out the free internet, and computer access, games and TV or get advice on issues affecting young people.


Report it logo

If you see something that needs improving in Romford please report it using the Council’s online forms.

The forms cover a wide range of issues from fly-tipping to potholes.

Completing the correct form sends it direct to the right people to deal with that issue.

The winners will be announced at a gala presentation evening, hosted by Francine Lewis on Friday 16 October at the CEME Conference Centre in Marsh Way, Rainham, so come along and support your local businesses.

Tickets, which include a three-course dinner, pre-dinner drinks and wine with the meal, can be booked online and cost £80 plus VAT each.
