Work underway on new library

​Work is well underway  to create a new library in the heart of Harold Hill, starting with the demolition of the shops in the eastern arcade of the Hilldene Shopping Centre. The building work is expected to finish by early summer in 2016.

Harold Hill Police SNT at St Georges Church

On the beat with Harold Hill Police

Each police Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) holds meetings where the public can attend and ask questions and get crime prevention advice.

In Harold Hill there are two SNTs - Gooshays and Heaton - and their next meetings are:

Monday 17 August - Drop in surgery

Tuesday 18 August - Drop in surgery

Wednesday 26 August - Drop in surgery

Friday 28 August - Drop in surgery

Thursday 3 September - Drop in surgery

The Gooshays SNT also hold regular coffee mornings (pictured) at St George's Church.

Recycling centre with new covers

Recycling centres looking better

Keep an eye open for the new look recycling centres in Harold Hill at Bedfords Park, Broxhill Road; Central Park, Petersfield Avenue; Clematis Close; Heaton Acenue and North Hill Recreation Ground, North Hill Drive.

Thanks to a grant from the London Waste and Recycling Board new covers are being installed to make the recycling centres more attractive.

Don’t forget if you recycle at one of the centres and post a selfie you will earn 1,200 Green Points, worth £3, to spend on a wide range of goods or services.


Report it logo

If you see something that needs improving in Harold Hill please report it using the Council’s online forms.

The forms cover a wide range of issues from fly-tipping to potholes.

Completing the correct form sends it direct to the right people to deal with that issue.

Central Park Leisure Centre,

10 Minute Shake Up is a core part of the Change4Life campaign, encouraging people to take part in short bursts of exercise and live an active lifestyle. All activities on the day start with a 10 Minute Shake Up. Other activities include four Disney themed classes to keep the little ones entertained, as well as trampolining, netball, basketball and football.

All activities will cost a minimal fee of £1 with all proceeds going to The Anthony Nolan Trust.

Tuesday  September 29, 11am-12noon,  £1 including refreshments

Local author Dot May Dunn is the guest speaker at this month’s meeting for over 50s.  Dot has written books about her time as a midwife and her childhood growing up in Derbyshire during the Second World War.

Looking for work?

The London - Harold Hill Job Club is free to attend and is facilitated by Christians Against Poverty (CAP).

It is run in association with the local food bank working in partnership with St Georges Church and operates out of St Georges Church Centre each Wednesday between 10 am and 2 pm.

The winners will be announced at a gala presentation evening, hosted by Francine Lewis on Friday 16 October at the CEME Conference Centre in Marsh Way, Rainham, so come along and support your local businesses.

Tickets, which include a three-course dinner, pre-dinner drinks and wine with the meal, can be booked online and cost £80 plus VAT each.
