Green flag awards 2015

Green flags for nine parks

Havering Council has maintained its status as having some of the best parks in country, with all nine Green Flag parks in the Borough retaining their prestigious status for a second year.

The award, handed out by Keep Britain Tidy, recognises and rewards the best parks and green spaces across the country. A Green Flag flying overhead is a sign to visitors that the space boasts the highest possible standards, is beautifully maintained and has excellent facilities.

Boney M

Top bands for Havering Show

Havering Council has once again lined up some popular acts from the 1980s to lead the programme at this year’s Havering Show.

On the bill at this popular Bank Holiday event, which is sponsored by Time Fm as well as West and Coe, are Boney M and Bad Manners.

Bad Manners

The Havering Show is free to attend and is held at Harrow Lodge Park in Hornchurch on Sunday 30 and Monday 31 August with gates open from 11.00am until 6.00pm. There is a charge for parking.

The Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Service, Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe, is holding a public meeting at myplace, 343 Dagnam Park Drive, Harold Hill, RM3 9EN on Wednesday 5 August from 6.30pm until 7.30pm. Doors open 6pm and places will be allocated on first come, first served basis.

The Leader of Havering Council, Councillor Roger Ramsey, along with Cabinet Members, will be at the Liberty Shopping Centre,  Romford, RM1 3RL on Friday 14 August between 1pm and 2pm to meet residents and discuss issues.

New cadet unit to launch

In September, London Fire Brigade is launching a Havering Cadet Unit for young people aged 14 to 17. Meetings will be from 6pm until 9pm every Tuesday at Harold Hill Fire Station, Ashton Road, Harold Hill. Joining a Fire Cadet Unit helps young people enhance key citizenship skills, build confidence, develop transferable skills, and work towards a BTEC qualification
