Advice for cyclists

The road layout will have changed so please:

  • take extra care
  • follow new signs
  • watch for pedestrians and drivers who may not yet be used to two-way traffic

Northbound cyclists on Gower Street are advised to use Grafton Way to access Euston or Hampstead Road. There is no cycle lane on the final northern section of Gower Street, but Grafton Way has a separate cycle lane and Tottenham Court Road has a bus and cycle only lane. There will be a new southbound cycle lane on Gower Street available for you to use.

TFL have quiet cycle routes listed on their website to explore these visit www.tfl.gov.uk/maps/cycle

Look both ways

Please take care when crossing Gower Street and Bloomsbury Street and remember to

look both ways for traffic and cyclists

There are a number of pedestrian crossings along the road which we would encourage you to use, and we will have stewards on the street to remind people of the change for the first few days.

Advice for motorists

The road layout will have changed so please:

  • take extra care
  • follow new signs
  • watch for pedestrians and cyclists who may not yet be used to two-way traffic

We will have TfL staff on site to assist drivers for the first few days of the two way traffic. In particular please note the following changes:

1.  On Gower Street drivers will be able to travel in both directions between Grafton Way and Euston Road.

2. Drivers will no longer be able to turn left onto Euston Road from Tottenham Court Road – drivers should use Gower Street to access Euston Road westbound.
