On Monday 1st March, the full traffic restrictions on Tottenham Court Road will become permanent.
Areas of Tottenham Court Road will be restricted to buses and cyclists only on Mondays - Saturdays 8am-7pm.
This will mean cleaner air for you to breathe, more efficient bus journeys and less traffic congestion.
Thank you to all our residents, businesses and stakeholders for your patience throughout the construction period.
The new traffic restrictions and new loading bays will be in operation from the 1st March.
Businesses on Tottenham Court Road and Gower Street can find out how these changes affect deliveries via our Guide for Deliveries.

Advice for motorists
The road layout will have changed so please
- take extra care
- take note of all signs
- watch for pedestrians and cyclists who may not yet be used to two-way traffic
We will have TfL staff on site to assist drivers for the first few days of the two way traffic. In particular please note the following key changes:
1. You cannot travel north on Gower Street further than Grafton Way. All northbound traffic will be signed to turn left onto Grafton Way.
2. During the restricted hours the easiest way to go north is via Gower Street:
3. If you are using Oxford Street to travel north you should carry along New Oxford Street and use Bloomsbury Street / Gower Street
4. If you are approaching Cambridge Circus you should use Shaftesbury Avenue to reach Bloomsbury Street / Gower Street
5. If you do approach the southern end of Tottenham Court Road you will be forced to turn right onto Great Russell Street
6.The new traffic restrictions on Tottenham Court Road start on Monday 1st March.
