 How to book a free COVID-19 test if you develop coronavirus symptoms
With cases of coronavirus rising across London, we’re getting in touch to remind you how to book a free COVID-19 test and how to access support to self-isolate – including the £500 support payment to support people on low incomes to self-isolate.
If you develop coronavirus symptoms, you can book a free test online at nhs.uk/coronavirus or by calling 119 where you’ll be given the option to book an appointment at a local test site or request an at-home test kit which will be posted to you. Tests are free and available to everyone. It takes 5-10 minutes to organise a test and you should receive your results within 48 hours.
There are two test sites in Camden with plenty of appointments available:
- Ramsay Hall, Maple Street, W1T 5HB (indoors – no step-free access)
- 51 Greenwood Place, NW5 1LB (outdoors – step-free access)
If you have any worries about booking a test via the NHS route, you can book directly with us at camden.gov.uk/bookatest or by calling 020 7974 4444 (option 9). We recommend this option if you need support with anything, including to self-isolate, because we can speak to you about this at the same time. We can only book test appointments at Ramsay Hall though – for test appoints at other sites or to get an at-home test kit, call NHS 119 or go to nhs.uk/coronavirus

 Support to self-isolate

£500 grant to support low-earners to self-isolate
If you’re self-isolating and you meet the below criteria, you may be eligible for a one-off payment of £500 – called a Test and Trace Support Payment – to support you to self-isolate and to make up for lost income:
- You’ve been told to stay at home and self-isolate by NHS test and Trace; and
- You are employed or self-employed, are unable to work from home and will lose income as a result; and
- You are currently receiving benefits

If your application is successful, the money should be paid into your bank account within 5 working days of the date of the decision.
