Work to start

The works to create a new park in Alfred Place will start on the 26th October 2020. Initially this will include investigation work with the main construction to start in November 2020.

Working hours will be:

  • Mon - Fri: 8am – 5pm
  • As needed Saturday: 8am – 1pm

Work is expected to be completed in July 2021.

The work will be undertaken by our contractor idverde who will start by setting up hoarding to define the working area and undertaking some underground surveys.

Any changes to the programme will be updated on our website.

Impacts of the work

Road closures:

Alfred Place will be closed to traffic with some access points for deliveries and pedestrian access from the 26th October 2020 to mid-July 2021.

Access will be maintained to premises and idverde will be contacting businesses individually to discuss the works and individual access requirements.

A plan of the site will be available online shortly which will include information on access and loading for businesses and residents.

Parking suspensions:

Parking bays on Chenies Street will also be suspended during this time.

Noise:

Noise should be expected throughout the construction period. The noisiest work will be the demolition works and the cutting of new paving slabs.  Where possible acoustic barriers will be in place to reduce the sound.

We apologise for any inconvenience that these works will cause.
