Resurfacing update

Resurfacing High Holborn/Shaftesbury Avenue is continuing:

• expected completion date 28th September

Resurfacing Bloomsbury Street

• 29th September – 8th October

Resurfacing New Oxford Street

• 9th October - 20th October

Road closures / access restrictions

There will be a number of road closures from Tuesday 15th September for full details refer to the resurfacing programme.

Monday 7th September - Wednesday 16th September

• Lane closures – diversions in place 
• No vehicle access at any time 24 hours a day to Bloomsbury Street between north of Great Russell Street and High Holborn
• Note traffic will still be able to use New Oxford Street as normal east and west but no traffic can access Bloomsbury Street from New Oxford Street
• Pedestrian crossings along the length of Bloomsbury Street will be closed – diversions will be in place 
• If you are within a closed area please leave rubbish on the nearest side street for collection.

Noise and weekend working

To complete this work as quickly and efficiently as possible we will be working in sections and at weekends. 

This resurfacing will require noisy work to break up the old road surface and involve large machinery moving around the area to lay the new surface.

Working hours will be:

• 8am - 6pm Mondays to Fridays
• 8am -1pm on Saturdays
• Please note not all weekends will include work.

Towards the end of the programme, later working hours on Saturdays as well as Sunday working may also be included. We will update the hours of work and any changes to dates on our website.
