Update on Whitfield Gardens

Work is continuing in our enclosed Whitfield Garden site. There will be some noisy work over the next two days. As we know that many of you are at home we will be taking breaks between 10am - 10:30am and 1pm - 2pm.

The team continues to follow strict Coronavirus (COVID-19) procedures including 2m distancing.

Mural restoration continuing

Over the next few week's the team at Global Street Arts will be continuing with the restoration of the Fitzrovia Mural.

This will not be noisy work and is the next step in faithfully and historically accurately restoring the memorial back to its former glory.

The team will all be equipped with mask protection as per standard safety procedures to work on the paintwork.

They will be maintaining the safe working practices including the 2m distance and other Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic guidance.

Accessing Financial Support

If you are struggling with your finances as a result of Coronavirus (COVID-19) or you know someone who is, listed below are some of the ways you can access support. We are here to help so if you are struggling in any way, get in touch.

1. If you are facing immediate financial hardship – e.g. you have no income or money in your account – you can apply for a one-off payment of around £50 through our Local Welfare Assistance Fund (LWAF) to buy groceries or pay a bill. You can apply yourself or by calling us on 020 7974 4444 (option 9).

2. Check you’re claiming all the benefits you are entitled to including our Council Tax Support scheme which reduces the amount of council tax residents are required to pay.

3. If you are receiving Council Tax support already and have something left to pay, you should have received a letter from us about a further discount - let us know if you haven’t.

4. If you don’t receive Council Tax support already and earn less than £387 per week (or less than £483.75 if you have children, are living with a disability, or you’re are a carer), you will be eligible for a discount. If you earn less than £86 per week, you won’t pay anything at all but you need to apply for this discount online or by calling us on 0207 974 4444 (option 9).

5. Full details on what Government benefits are available and how to apply for them can be found on our website.
