Tottenham Court Road is changing image

Overnight working on Tottenham Court Road

Between the 30th October and 1st November we will be working overnight removing old redundant posts and working on kerb stones along the length of the street.

All northbound bus stops will remain open but southbound bus stops will be closed for this period. Letters have been sent to all businesses and residents.

Howland Street Cycle Lane

Tottenham Court Road / Howland Street cycle lane update

As part of ongoing improvements aimed at increasing the compliance at this junction, new signs have been added warning cyclists to obey the red lights.

Last week we trialled the reopening of the cycle lane complete with all these changes. We worked alongside a compliance team from Transport for London to provide an onsite presence, warning cyclists of the danger of ignoring red signals.

This is all part of our work to help to educate cyclists in using the new cycle lane. The lane has been closed again while we analyse the data from the trial and explore further options to increase compliance. We will continue to work with Transport for London and others to open this facility on a permanent basis as soon as possible, as long as it is safe to do so.
