Tenants and Residents Association News, April 2020

Coronavirus update

Since our emails last week the situation has dramatically changed with significantly more Government restrictions introduced. The Council has had to close all reception points including the Civic Centre from Tuesday although staff are still providing a telephone service as well as working from home in the majority of cases. All the Council’s responses are being co-ordinated through a Pandemic Co-ordination Group which the Council has set up in response to the emergency.

To keep up to date with the latest in Lambeth please check on the Council website where you can sign up to receive the latest coronavirus-covid-19-information.

In the meantime Housing Officers have been tasked to contact every vulnerable person on their patch. However there is no guarantee our data captures everyone so please liaise with your housing officer if you have particular concerns about any residents to ensure they have also been contacted.

Lambeth foodbanks rally

Brixton and Norwood Foodbanks are setting up deliveries of food parcels to residents who are vulnerable (over 70 or with underlying health issues and self-isolating) and those without any money to buy food. If there are any residents you need to refer for this service please send details (name, address, contact number if possible) to fbd@lambeth.gov.uk.

If you want to know what support groups have been established there has been a facebook page set up which you can check.

Cool It Arts online

In the meantime one of our partners, Cool It Arts, who provide afterschool arts classes for under 8’s in Vauxhall has now gone on line. If you know of any resident with children with access to the internet you can check them out on line

Bidding's Suspended

Tenants won’t be able to bid for a property for the immediate future as the choice based lettings system has had to be suspended because of the current situation. The Council will however continue to allocate properties as direct offers if a move is essential.  The Council also may use empty properties as temporary accommodation in the meantime.
